Community Care

At The Green Elephant, our goal is to forge robust connections with our local communities, providing comprehensive support for children and their families in all aspects of family life.

Our educators serve as exemplary role models of cultural understanding, giving children the time, respect, and support necessary to explore their cultural identity, inquire about others, and engage with their environment.

Through joint exploration, learning about different cultures, and observing special events, children not only take pride in their own cultural heritage but also become eager to learn about and appreciate the cultures of others.

The buzz of nature

Bringing nature into every aspect of our services, we are home to a hive of stingless bees, tend to the chickens in their coup, and observe the life cycles of butterflies from egg to maturation.

Recycle stations

Each of our services provides a handy recycle station where children, families and team can reuse and recycle otherwise discarded items… reducing the impact of waste on our planet one container at a time.

Nature play

Natural materials play an integral part in children’s play experiences, with loose parts such as twigs, leaves and shells being handled with attention and intrigue. Children develop care and respect for the natural world and show understanding of their contributions to a more sustainable future.

Celebrating culture in our centres is more than just an event; it’s a fundamental way we share and engage with the identities of children, families, and staff across our services. By singing songs in various languages, delving into artistic styles from around the world, and crafting delicious treats representative of diverse cultures, we wholeheartedly embrace the multitude of beliefs, cultures, and ethnicities that form the fabric of The Green Elephant family.

Diversity and inclusion

The qualities of a ‘The Green Elephant child’ are varied and vibrant. Creativity, joy, gratitude, and determination are some of the attributes that describe our children and reflect the families they come from. For us, diversity is more than a promoted word; it’s the rich variety that our children, their families, and our team embody.

community connection

Building connections with local businesses, establishing pen pal relationships with senior citizens, and organising excursions to nearby attractions help our children develop a love for their community. We aim to foster mutual relationships within our local area, ensuring that a comprehensive, family-oriented focus is experienced by everyone who joins The GreenElephant family.

The nursery, toddler and preschool programs aim to foster children’s social, emotional, creative and motor skill development. Toddlers learn independence and self-help skills, while preschoolers engage in a play-based curriculum guided by children’s interests and educator objectives. Educators support learning through conversations and small group experiences, prioritising safety, positive relationships and fun.

Our nursery strives to create a warm, safe environment. Hands-on sensory learning is encouraged.
